     From a recent experience I would like to give some advice to cell phone users. If you have a cracked screen, you will need to be extra cautious around liquids. Each crack is a hole that fluid can get into, and a relatively inexpensive repair can easily double or triple in cost. Here are some inexpensive temporary fixes.
A universal, cut to size touch screen protector kit will cover cracks and help protect your phone from absorbing moisture until you get it repaired, and it will keep your fingers from getting micro cuts that can get infected.
Shipping tape - If you have a narrow screen, this is an inexpensive method of sealing the cracks until it is repaired. Depending on the touchscreen though, you will need to test the tape to see if the touch screen will function with the type of tape you use. Cut a piece about a finger's width wide and stick it to part of the screen. Make sure you leave a tab so you can remove it after the test. If you can move and tap your finger along the tape, and the screen works, tape is an option. We will usually put tape on cracked screens for removal anyways, to keep glass shards to a minimum.
Cheapest of all? Half size ziplock sandwich bags! These will fit most phones (Go with a full size for keyboard type slide phones), and will protect the entire phone from moisture.
In all cases, getting the phone serviced as soon as possible, and the use of a good quality protective case and screen protector, is the best insurance for your phone.
